In April, one of the youngest murderers in the UK was sentenced to 11 years behind bars for stabbing a 53-year-old man to death.

The 13-year-old, who could not be named for legal reasons, stabbed Christopher John Barry, known as Jack, in the chest on December 14, 2014, following an argument outside a block of flats in The Broadway, Edmonton.

The boy, who was part of the Wood Green gang, had been trying to get back into a party but had gone to the wrong block of flats.

A fight broke out between the 13-year-old and Mr Barry as he refused to let him into the block.

The teenager managed to get into the block of flats, where he stabbed Mr Barry as he got into the lift.

Also in the month, North Middlesex Hospital was swarming with people, mainly from the Turkish community, during a protest against the death of a three-year-old boy.

Toddler Arma?an Denli died of meningitis on April 21, but his parents say he was sent home earlier on that day after doctors said it was only chicken pox.

His death comes just after that of 30-year-old restaurant owner Murat Alabo?az, who died from complications in his pancreas after being admitted with crippling pains in his abdomen but his family claim that even hours before he died he was being kept waiting on a bed in a hospital corridor.

Finally, a man celebrating his 100th birthday said he was “overwhelmed” by the number of cards he received.

Tommy Bruin, of Woodcroft, Winchmore Hill, received phone calls and birthday cards from across the globe as the war veteran celebrated the big day with family and neighbours.

The veteran was wounded and had to be airlifted during a Second World War battle to which Mr Bruin describes as “one of the most hair-raising experiences of my life".
