It was revealed in February that children have been suspended or expelled from their school more than 3,000 times in the past two years.

Figures obtained by the Enfield Independent revealed between 2012/13 and 2013/14 academic years, there were 3,369 cases of children being given fixed-term suspensions, including one child as young as four.

A total of 110 pupils were permanently expelled during the same period.

The statistics showed that the number of fixed-term suspensions had risen from 1,558 in 2012/13 to 1,811 in 2013/14.

Campaigns were all the rage in February with two major petitions launched.

A campaign was launched to save a historic mansion and a park’s heritage.

Friends of Trent Park, Christ Church and politicians are working together on the ‘Save Trent Park’ campaign.

The Grade II-listed Trent Park mansion and surrounding buildings in Snakes Lane, Cockfosters, were sold by Middlesex University in August 2013 to Malaysia’s Allianze University College of Medical Sciences for £30.9 million.

However, plans to build a new university on the site were abandoned when the university went into liquidation last May – leaving the site almost empty but for two security guards.

Since the first campaign launch, Trent Park has been bought by Berkeley House group who are in the process of creating plans for the site.

An online petition was launched after fears grew that a traditional pub could have seen its last orders.

The Green Dragon pub, in Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill, closed its doors in January 2015 due to financial troubles.

People living in the area now fear it could be knocked down and replaced with flats.

The online petition has now generated 3,321 signatures, with many calling for the pub to be restored to its former glory.

Despite the strong support, plans are now in place for the site to become a supermarket.
