ARTISTS in Droitwich are waiting to find out whether they have been part of a world record-breaking exhibition.

Members of the Droitwich Art Society (DAS) entered 32 tiny pieces of colourful artwork into the Society For All Artworks (SAA) World Record Art Challenge, which aims to set the world record for the largest number of original artworks exhibited under one roof.

Liz Holbeche, treasurer at DAS, said: "It is lovely to take part in something as a group. Usually we do things for local exhibitions and it is really nice to take part in something national.

"It is lovely to concentrate on a small size because usually we work very large so to try and capture something that is acceptable and was a good standard on a small scale was quite a challenge really."

The 32 pieces, depicting a variety of subjects including landscapes and wildlife, were hand crafted by the seven members of DAS.

Each entry measures just 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches.

The closing date for entries is Sunday, January 31, after which DAS will find out if they helped to set a new world record.

The SAA project aims to get the nation painting and welcomes entries from anyone who wants to take part. All entrants will be invited to the final exhibition.

DAS meets on the first Tuesday of the month at Rotary House in Corbett Ave from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. New members are welcome.
