This week, a national newspaper reported the case of a three-year-old child being hit and dragged along the pavement by a cyclist, in an incident caught on CCTV.

I am nervous when waiting for buses on Cambridge Road at Westerham Avenue, and also at the Cambridge Roundabout on Silver Street, because cyclists ride silently on the pavement expecting people waiting for buses to get out of their way.

My fear is that as I wait I occasionly step sideways unaware of any cyclists coming up behind me. A nasty accident could be the result.

Cyclists should be made aware that riding on pavements is illegal and they do not have the right of way.
