A host of activities are set to take place over the weekend to mark St George’s Day.
Despite the historic day to celebrate patron saint of England being today, a number of different events have been organised this Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, The Wonder pub, in Batley Road, Enfield, will stage live music, Morris dancing, a barbecue and raffle.
There will also be a competition for children who come dressed as dragons.
On Sunday, April 26, the annual Enfield scout and guide parade will take place starting at Enfield Grammar upper school, in Enfield, and finish at the lower school, in Parsonage Lane.
Members of the public are welcome to join in the short service and address from Enfield Council’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Pat Ekechi.
Cabinet member for community organisations, Cllr Yasemin Brett said: “This year’s St George’s Festival is going to be fabulous.
“We are delighted to support the Scouts with their parade this year which will bring the valour of St George to Enfield Town, and afterwards why not drop in for an afternoon of fun activities at The Wonder pub, many of them is free.”
Cllr Nick Dines, conservative councillor for Chase Ward said: “St George’s Day is an important date and it is right that it should be celebrated across the borough. It would be fantastic to see people lining the streets for the scouts and then paying a visit to The Wonder to continue the festivities.”
