I was very surprised to read that in a recent survey North Middlesex Hospital did not receive the commendation for cancer care that I believe it deserves.
Having been diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago, I attended the hospital every day for eight weeks for treatment. Everyone I came into contact with – especially the excellent radio therapy team – were kind, considerate and encouraging.
Thankfully my treatment was successful and early detection had been an important factor, which is why I also congratulate Professor Stanley Okolo and his team whose health bus goes into the community offering health screening and advice. More awareness of this initiative is needed if the wider population of Enfield is to be helped in the way that I was.
We should be grateful to have North Middlesex Hospital in the heart of our borough.
