The last ever baby to be born at Chase Farm Hospital has been delivered.
Amelie Williams-Gracia, was delivered late on Tuesday, November 19, on the eve of the ward's closure.
During the past week, the hospital in The Ridgeway has been preparing to close with a new maternity unit opening at Barnet Hospital.
Her mother, Valeria Gracia, said: “The experience was amazing, we’ve been so well looked after under difficult circumstances for the staff here. It’s been great to be here.”
Amelie’s father Justin Williams added: “It’s nice that I was also born here myself 42 years ago.”
Barnet Hospital will have 48 beds as well as a birth centre with five birthing suites and three postnatal bedrooms.
Ante-natal care will continue to be provided at Chase Farm.
