A man has been arrested as part of a police operation targeting criminals behind internet 'phishing' scams to trick people out of their bank details.

The 23-year-old was arrested in a raid on a property in Lynmouth Avenue, Bush Hill Park at around 7am.

Officers from the Police Central eCrime Unit and the Serious Organised Crime Agency also arrested at 20-year-old man living in the North Circular Road in Barnet in connection with the scam.

The suspects are being interviewed at north London police stations and their computers and digital equipment have been seized for examination.

The pair were arrested as part of an operation targeting rogue 'phishing' emails designed to lure internet users into giving up their bank login details, which criminals can then sell on or use instantly for fraudulent transactions.
