It’s Easter. Time to shovel huge slabs of chocolate into your chops, fill your belly with roast dinners and burp at your relatives.

But before set to work carving your crease in the sofa, take a look and have a listen to the absolute banquet of live music taking place in Watford over the bank holiday weekend.

Get your crucifix of music at The Horns, where covers band Wired will be playing classics from the ‘60s right up to today’s chart hits on Saturday, March 30 at 9.30pm. They’ve received rave reviews and promise an egg-citing night of the music you love.

On Sunday, March 31, following a set from the pub’s Sunday mainstay’s The Northside Jazz Band (who have played a Sunday session in Watford for more than 40 years), come’s father and son duo NRG.

With two guitars, two vocals and a cheeky mandolin, the pair play with the full force of a band doing covers of anything from Dire Straits to Paul Simon. They’re on from 4pm to 7pm.

Next up on Sunday night (a special late opening Easter treat) is The Zimmerman (below) who play Bob Dylan tracks as you’ve never heard them before. With a relaxed, ramshackle attitude punctuated with some rollercoaster rock and roll moments – this is a band not to be missed.

On Bank Holiday Monday there are high hopes for music in the pub’s garden, but if the sun isn’t shining outside, it will be tropical indoors as top Midlands reggae act Mystic Crew (above), spread their sound of summer.

They’ve been on the scene for more than 20 years, have supported the likes of Desmond Dekker, Burning Spear, Sugar Minott and Max Priest and are sure to get your feet moving.

Tight, infectious beats, covering ska, lovers rock, roots, dub and dancehall – Mystic Crew are tastier than a chocolate bunny.

Over at The Flag, live music night Juicebox Indie return to the venue where it all began after a break of some five years. Shake a tailfeather to Underview, Michael Hunt, Idol Bones and Fort Hope at this anniversary celebration on Saturday, March 30.

Meanwhile at Molloy’s on Friday, March 29 from 10pm, you can sing your heart out to rock anthems old and new courtesy of party band Straight Life. From AC/DC to ZZ Top – they’ve got it covered.
