Black, white, young or old, if there’s something that unites us all it’s a love for the music of the most famous record label in the world – Motown.
The Detroit-based label boasted an incredible roster of artists, among them some of the biggest names in popular music. From Stevie Wonder to Marvin Gaye, from The Jackson Five, Supremes, Four Tops to the Temptations – there are more than 50 years worth of hits to enjoy.
Many of them feature in a tribute show The Magic of Motown, which comes to Watford Colosseum next month.
“Sadly, many of the original Motown legends are either no longer with us or no longer touring,“ says the show’s producer Michael Taylor, overseeing the biggest production in his company’s ten year history. “This is the nearest you’ll get to authentically capturing their incredible musical legacy in a live show.
“Our young cast is able to reflect the exuberance and excitement of these songs as they were originally performed.
“Equal care is taken to reproduce the original look of the Motown stars on stage,“ says Michael, “there’s a fabulous selection of colourful costumes for the cast and all the intricate dance moves for which Motown stars were famous.“
With a live band, dazzling dance moves, glittering costumes and of course, the wonderful songs that soundtrack all our lives, get ready and reach out to The Magic of Motown.
The Magic of Motown is at Watford Colosseum on Friday, April 5 at 8pm. Details: 0845 075 3993
