It’s the last meeting for the remaining members of this London tailors’ union branch. As Max, Barney, Tom and George perform the last rites for their intrepid band and consign it to history it is a time to reminisce, to swap stories of what was and what might have been, to take stock, and to look into the future.
But not for one moment is this going to be a tranquil wake. Fireworks can still fly and scores can still be settled when our comrades get together.
The Tailors’ Last Stand is a new play by former head of department of performing arts at West Herts College and Watford resident Ian Buckley, based on his father’s memories and his life growing up in a communist household.
This comic play is full of the spirit of a bygone era and an affectionate look at the men, their union, and their final goodbye. Four lovable rogues, one political ideal… infinite comic mayhem!
The Tailors’ Last Stand is at Barons Court Theatre, Curtain's Up Pub, Comeragh Road, W14 until March 10. Details: 020 8932 4747
