A hospital will open its doors tomorrow to sufferers of bowel disease for an information day.
St Mark’s Hospital, in Watford Road, Harrow, is the leading treatment centre for inflammatory bowel disease and is encouraging patients, carers, family members and anyone with concerns to come and speak to staff about the condition.
More than 150 people in the UK suffer from ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s Disease, and the most severe cases are referred to the hospital whose staff have high expertise in dealing with the disease.
Consultant gastroenterologist, Dr Ailsa Hart, who will be speaking at the event, said: “It will be an excellent opportunity for sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease to come in and learn more about their condition from some dedicated experts in the field.
“There will be opportunities to interact with physicians, surgeons, specialist nurses, dieticians, pharmacists and the stoma and pouch support team, in addition to charities who are working tirelessly to help patients.”
The information day starts at the hospital at 10.30am.
