Valerie Felstead MBE Barnet Guide Leader dies. A guide leader who set up the 2nd Cockfosters Guides in 1956 and spent a lifetime in Guiding has died aged 89. Valerie was the Assistant Commissioner for East Barnet, the District Commissioner for Haringey East Division and the County Commissioner for Middlesex East, before receiving the MBE from the Queen for her services to young people and to Guiding in 2001. Mrs Felstead was also a speech therapist in the Enfield area for thirty years. She died on March the 19th 2023 and is survived by her two sons John and Michael, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Brookside Methodist Church, East Barnet on the 29th April 2023, at 2:30pm.
