With a cool transatlantic sound that is in stark contradiction with her grounded Stratford upbringing, Kelly Erez’s debut EP, This Is Me... has been receiving great reviews.

Listen here to Kelly Erez singing Love Letters:

“I was born in London within hearing distance of the Bow Bells,” laughs Kelly. “But my sounds have been inspired by my parents playing everything from Middle Eastern music, to UB40, to Metallica.

“My sister Natalie has taught me a great deal,” attributes this 25-year-old singer. “She’s eight years older than me and she inspired me and taught me how to sing harmonies and write songs.

“My songs are inspired by first-hand experiences about life, love and personal strength,” continues Kelly.

In fact, fans of the ReverbNation Chart have been agreeing with her by creating a buzz on this global chart and downloading the tracks, written and performed by her for the past three months, putting her in at the top three of both the RnB and Soul section.

And, her unique, warm, husky voice, in particular on the track Come To Me, has attracted listeners on BBC Radio 1Xtra where it became track of the week last month.

Amazingly though, Kelly is unsigned, even though she has industry support from established writers such as Steve Bush (Stereophonics and Corinne Bailey-Rae) and Aubrey Nunn (Faithless and Dido).

The former King Solomon High School pupil says: “I don’t have a record deal at the moment, but I have signed a management and publishing deal with Definition Music. Looking to the future, I’m taking each day as it comes and working with some amazing people.”

Each copy of her EP sold will carry a charitable donation to The National Autistic Society. This is a subject close to Kelly’s heart as autism is one of the disabilities her younger sister has.
