Enfield Council's road safety obligation

Reading that Enfield Council had been given a reward to do with road safety was both a shock and a joke for residents living near the new Forest Road health centre.

This is because the council has just closed the car park opposite the new health centre to make way for more flats.

When I phoned the council, I was informed the fact this sale would endanger lives was not their problem, nor was the fact that it would cause parking problems.

I thought road safety was everyone’s concern?

The fact that the car park was closed on Tuesday and residents got the letter on Friday, is typical of the council not keeping residents informed.

What will it take for road safety to become a concern to Enfield Council — a death?
