Luka Modric has been fined by Tottenham for failing to turn up for the club’s tour of America.

The Croatian is thought to want a move to Real Madrid but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the player.

Modric was keen to move last summer as well, with Chelsea – then managed by new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas – chasing his signature.

But White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy held on to the playmaker and will not let him leave the club cheaply.

And Tottenham are in a strong position given that the 26-year-old signed a six-year deal with them in May 2010.

Villas-Boas told Spanish paper AS: “I think Modric is wrong. This will go against him.

“He has worsened the situation with what he’s doing and now the chairman is very angry.”

Modric obviously hasn't learned his lesson from last season...you don't cross Daniel Levy! I'd be happy to see the back of him, but only at the right price.
