PAUL ROBINSON will hold talks with Aston Villa this week as Tottenham attempt to tie up a deal for Heurelho Gomes to replace him, according to reports, writes Iain Liddle.

PSV have confirmed that Spurs have made contact over the Brazilian who would costs around £10million and handed in a transfer request at the end of last season after falling out with managing director Jan Reker.

The Dutch club have even gone so far as to draw up a list of replacements with Manchester City stopper Andreas Isaksson emerging a possible candidate.

"Tottenham have informed us of their interest," Reker said in the Eindhovens Dagblad newspaper.

"It is true that Isaksson is one of the candidates to replace Gomes, but we are looking at other keepers too."

Tottenham are demanding £5million for Robinson who is keen to leave White Hart Lane after falling out with manager Junade Ramos after losing his place to Radek Cerny midway through last season.

The former England keeper, who has made 41 appearances for his country, suffered a double-blow by subsequently losing his place in the national team to David James after a series of high-profile blunders.

New boss Fabio Capello has not even included Robinson in the squad for recent friendlies with Chris Kirkland and Joe Hart moving above him in the pecking order.

A move to the midland would help kick-start his career with Martin O'Neill desperate for a new goalkeeper after being put off signing Scott Carson on a permanent basis when Liverpool slapped a 10million asking price on the player.

Robinson has played 175 games for Tottenham since his move from Leeds Utd in 2004 and famously scored for the club in a Premier League match at home to Watford.

Good ridens! He is useless and always has been! Why are people fooled by keepers who make easy saves look spectacular!
