Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus has backed Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to prioritise on a Premier League title challenge over the Europa League.

The Argentine boss rested a number of key players for Thursday’s round of 16 first leg tie in Germany.

Spurs promptly lost the game 3-0 in Dortmund and face a nigh-on impossible task when der BVB visit White Hart Lane on Thursday.

But forward Reus, who scored twice at the Westfalenstadion, backed the decision by Pochettino to focus on trying to win the Premier League instead of advancing in Europe.

He told SPORT1: “I do believe that they took the game seriously.

“But we are currently in such good form that we would still have beaten their best team. However, their team has other priorities.

“I think Tottenham are giving priority to winning the Premier League and you can’t blame them.”

Tottenham are second to Leicester City in the Premier League – five points behind the shock leaders.
