Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to completing the signing of Burnley defender Kieran Trippier - their first signing of the close season - for £3.5 million.

The 24-year-old right-back is also believed to be a target for Liverpool but the Daily Telegraph claim Spurs will win the race for the former Manchester City youngster.

An attack-minded full-back, Trippier impressed as the Clarets were relegated from the Premier League and was an ever-present in the league.

Trippier, who is an England Under-21 international, joined Burnley from City on a permanent basis in the 2012 January transfer window having impressed during the first half of the campaign on loan at Turf Moor.
