Tottenham Hotspur are confident they will secure the signature of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, although Arsenal and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the Frenchman, according to the Evening Standard.

And Spurs will offer winger Andros Townsend or Benjamin Stambouli as bait to land the 25-year-old, who has been at Southampton since 2008.

The club have been interested in signing Schneiderlin since last summer when Southampton blocked his departure following the sales of key squad members Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Ricky Lambert and Dejan Lovren.

Saints have put a £20m price tag on his head but Spurs are hoping a part-exchange deal will lower the price and help reunite Schneiderlin with his former manager Maurico Pochettino.

However, Southampton’s head of football development Les Reed has said the club will not listen to any offers for any of their players.

That follows speculation surrounding the future of Jay Rodriguez, despite the striker not having played for the club for over year.

He told Sky Sports News: “It wouldn’t be out intention to sell any of our players this summer.

“We’re in the process of renegotiating contracts with some but our main purpose at the moment is keeping this squad together and adding to it.”
