Hugo Lloris could stay at Tottenham Hotspur after rumours of a £14 million release clause for teams in the Champions League proved false, according to the Metro.

Frustrated at the lack of top-tier European football at Spurs, the French goalkeeper had been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the summer, with Manchester United among his alleged suitors.

And Lloris was rumoured to have a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave White Hart Lane should a club in the Champions League trigger his release clause.

But the Metro claim this is not the case and Lloris could now remain with Mauricio Pochettino’s side beyond the summer.

Lloris has played in 31 Premier League matches this season, keeping six clean sheets.
