Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to L'Equipe.

The 24-year-old midfielder excelled for the Saints last term, making 36 appearances for the South Coast outfit in all competitions.

Schneiderlin's impressive form saw him called up into Didier Deschamps' France squad for the World Cup, where he played 90 minutes against Ecuador in France's final group match.

The 5ft11in midfielder joined Southampton from French side Strasbourg in 2008 and has since gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the club.

Saintjock says...

Not a chance. If Schneiderlin goes anywhere it will be to Arsenal, as Wenger is a long time admirer, and Arsenal can offer CL.
Spurs is hardly a step up from Saints. (Pochettino needed to move to get the Levy money before he's found out as a one trick pony. He won't see Xmas at WHL I'm afraid.)
Most likely outcome is Schneiderlin will be Southampton's captain next season, as he has had talks with new manager Ronald Koeman, and realises from the evidence of the World Cup that the future's bright and orange.
