Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood said his side "deserved to win" after defeating Fulham 3-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Midfielder Paulinho got the host's opener when he turned home a free-kick from close range, but Steve Sidwell equalised immediately for Felix Magath's side.

Harry Kane got his third league goal of a profitable recent spell when he headed home, before Younes Kaboul made the points safe with a close-range finish from Christian Eriksen's free kick.

With 13 minutes remaining, Hugo Lloris denied Sidwell a second, saving the midfielder's penalty.

Speaking to the club's official site, Sherwood said: “We deserved to win. Matches are always tough at this stage of the season because every team has something to play for.

“Fulham were spirited, kept going, had a threat with Rodallega, Parker and Sidwell were dogged, but we stuck to it, weathered what they had to offer and showed our class in the end.

Sherwood added: “It’s always important for us to win in front of our fans, to entertain and to score goals so to come away with three points and score another three goals, overall, we’re all pleased.”
