Tottenham have reportedly made Ajax boss Frank De Boer their number one choice to replace Andre Villas-Boas and have already made an approach to the Dutch club.
Spurs were initially linked with Fabio Capello and it was also thought that Tim Sherwood, who is currently in charge of first team duties, could take charge until the end of the season.
However chairman Daniel Levy believes De Boer is the right man to take Tottenham to the next level with a style of football to match the club's attacking philosophy.
The Dutchman insisted last week he was happy to stay at Ajax but it remains to be seen whether he can be persuaded by a formal offer from White Hart Lane.
