Hugo Lloris: 6

Bore little blame for any of the goals although may have been disappointed not to get a hand to Giroud's near post strike for Arsenal's second. Opted once to punch to safety when probably could have caught but pulled off two impressive saves, played confidently with the ball at his feet and was quick to close down a couple of potential one-on-ones.

Kyle Walker: 6

Less reckless defensively than in recent matches although was easily pulled out of position in the build up to Arsenal's second. Struggled to cause any problems for Vermaelen going forward but was admittedly constrained by Arsenal's dominance. Taken off at half time.

William Gallas: 4

Once again failed to react to circumstances and challenge Mertesacker for Arsenal's first goal before incorrectly blaming Lennon. Could have done better for the second and third both of which he failed to block convincingly. Unable to rally his players in the 25 minutes after Adebayor's red and gave the ball away frequently, most notably after Arsenal's fifth when a feeble pass straight from kick-off suggested Tottenham's captain was first to throw in the towel.

Jan Vertonghen: 7

Looked far more comfortable at centre half than when he played at full back against City. Made several headed clearances and played an inch-perfect ball through to Defoe in the build up to Tottenham's first goal. Lost concentration at the end when he gave the ball away before Arsenal's final goal but was one of Spurs' better performers nonetheless.

Kyle Naughton: 4

Struggled to handle Walcott in the first half, allowing the winger to cross too easily for Mertesacker's header. For Arsenal's third he Let Cazorla go by too easily and was out of position in the first place which isolated Lennon at full-back. Taken off at half-time.

Aaron Lennon: 6

Worked hard to track back and put in one his most selfless performances in a Spurs shirt. Gave away a couple of careless freekicks though and should have hit the target when he struck wide of the far post at 1-0.

Tom Huddlestone: 5

Given a thankless task containing Arsenal's midfield three with ten men and cannot be accused of slacking off in his commitment. Was at fault though for losing Mertesacker who headed in Arsenal's first, and a clumsy touch caused chaos before Podolski scored the second. Needed to take more responsibility for Spurs possession.

Sandro: 6

Was fortunate not to pick up a booking earlier for determined - and at times over-eager - harrying of Arsenal's midfield. When the yellow card did eventually come it constrained his ability to break up play but he was still tidy in possession and made some key interceptions.

Gareth Bale: 7

Scored a superb goal with his right foot in the second half which would have been more noted had it carried more significance. Laid the ball on for Lennon's missed opportunity at 1-0 and although he could have squared to Defoe when closing in on goal at 4-2, his shot to the far post was an understandable choice given he may have hoped Defoe would tap it in anyway.

Emmanuel Adebayor: 5

Just as he did against City, he started the game brilliantly - harrying Arsenal's back four, linking up play with the midfield and being first to the rebound to score Tottenham's opener. One moment of madness though cost his team - and his manager - very dear.

Jermain Defoe: 6

Suffered as much as anyone from Adebayor's dismissal and was largely starved of service for the rest of match. Could have made it harder for Cazorla to go by him in the build up to the third goal and needed more composure when he swung wildly and missed the ball completely from a half chance at the back post at 4-2.

Subs:

Michael Dawson: 6

Turned his back on the ball for Arsenal's fifth and subsequently was unable to adjust his feet but executed two storming tackles in the second half and injected some much-needed steel and spirit to Tottenham's defence.

Clint Dempsey: 6

Worked hard, closing down Arteta effectively in the second half and offering Spurs a way out of defence when under pressure. Still looked nervous in possession though and uncomfortable when crowded out with his back to goal.

Tom Carroll: 7

Looked comfortable on the ball and showed an eagerness to break lines with his passing that Spurs have lacked of late. 20-minute cameo did his starting chances no harm at all.
