FOOTBALL

ENFIELD 1893 are safely through the first round of the Essex Senior League’s Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.

Takeley, a former Essex Intermediate club, scared the Es with a goal after 28 minutes.

But they turned the game around with three goals in a 13-minute spell netted by Balic, John Borland and Paul Oshin.

Takeley got a goal back too late at six minutes from time.

Both Brimsdown Rovers and Cockfosters are in the basement of the Molten Spartan South Midland Premier League and the weekend’s games didn’t help their plight.

Cockfosters had a 7-1 whacking by Biggleswade Town and Brimsdown Rovers lost 3-1 at home to Colney Heath.
