Enfield Borough claimed a 5-0 victory at Codicote in Spartan South Midlands League Division One on Saturday although it was difficult to gauge the full merit of the win given the gifts the hosts handed out.

Following last week’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Ampthill Town, Borough were in front after only five minutes when Thomas Opoku dispossessed the keeper to score.

Despite their lowly league position, Codicote took the game to their opponents and spurned a great chance to equalise when a Mason Bush penalty was saved by Nicholas Kyriacou.

The Enfield keeper had to make more good stops before his side were gifted another goal, Richard Ennin the beneficiary in first-half injury-time.

Another self-inflicted blow saw Tage Kennedy make it 3-0 after the restart and from there Borough assumed complete control, although they had to wait until 10 minutes from time to score their fourth from a deflected Guy Kiangebeni effort.

Codicote’s misery was completed with four minutes remaining when Henderson Browne converted a penalty after a late challenge on Isaac Stevens.
