Enfield Town’s new boss has shared his thoughts since his arrival after Bradley Quinton exited the club for Braintree.

Andy Leese has endured numerous of players leaving in his short space of time in the hot seat at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

Billy Crook is the latest player to jump ship as he joins his former boss at the Iron.

He took to social media and said: “Big shout out to the Enfield fans and everyone at the club, really made the South London boy feel comfortable in the north and helped me have my best season so far.

“Neil the best kitman, looked after me and we will definitely stay in touch mate. I hope the club make the playoffs again and go one step further.

“I’ll always remember that song, number one is...Thanks again ETFC. Crookie.”

Jon Muleba also followed suit on the same day, also joining Braintree.

Nathan McDonald, Scott Shulton and Samir Bihmoutine also made the switch to Quinton’s side.

Percy Kiangebeni and Harold Joseph both joined St. Albans.

Leese told the official club website: “You will have seen some current players leaving the club to play at a higher level. They have been honest with me, and there is not a lot you can do or offer to stop players bettering themselves.

“We have tried to retain a nucleus of the existing squad, and I will let you know who is staying as soon as we have concluded discussions.

“Players are weighing up their options at this time of the year as you would expect.

“I have learnt that patience is the key each summer to build a balanced squad, and, as importantly, to secure the right type of players that fit with the philosophy we have as a management team and as a club.

“We want players who are here for the right reasons.”

However, the boss was quick to mention players have been on his radar as he looks to build a team ahead of pre-season.

“I will detail the new squad as we move towards pre-season,” added Leese.

“Suffice to say we have a number of players close to joining us. In some cases holidays have taken precedence, but I hope to have terms agreed with a number by early next week. We have targeted a number of players we would like to bring in to strengthen the squad as we look to build on last season. It would be premature to name them at this stage but they are all quality and experienced players.”
