Enfield Ignatians Under-16s were successful in their maiden appearance in the Harrow Tens Tournament after defeating Fullerians Firsts 14-0 in the final.

The event took place at Harrow RFC on Sunday and the pace of Lawrence Loo twice proved key as he unlocked the defence to score.

Euan Renny saw both both drop-kick conversions go over as Ignatians asserted their authority.

Fullerians had their moments and looked odds-on to score but a crucial tackle from Lucas Yoxall thwarted their most dangerous attacking move.

It was sweet revenge for Enfield as Fullers had been the only side to beat the Blue and Golds in the pool stages, 7-5.

Despite the loss, Ignatians managed to top Pool A following comfortable 21-7 and 33-7 wins over Old Albanians Firsts and Harrow respectively before thumping Old Albanians Seconds 56-0 in the semis.

Ignatians spokesman Andrew Robinson said: “The team conducted themselves with discipline and honour and played some quality rugby.

“Every member of the squad played with their heart on their sleeves and the team proved themselves deserved winners of the tournament.”

The Under-15s tried to retain their title in the Harrow Tens plate competition but fell short in the final losing 28-14 to Stockwood Park, having defeated Watford 24-0 in the semi-final.

Coach Colin Pennicott said: “We were in a tough pool but got better as the tournament progressed. The final was certainly winnable but we lost focus at key moments and that prove our undoing.”
