Enfield 1893 emerged as the 3-1 victors over Ilford FC in the Essex Senior League on Saturday.

A minute silence was held at Cricketfield to remember all those who lost their lives in the place Crash in Medellin before the kick-off.

Andrew Tirivanhu opened the scoring after 15 minutes when he fired the ball into the roof of the net after the keeper parried his first shot away.

Ilford should have equalised ten minutes later but their striker could not reach the ball to apply the finishing touch.

Enfield had to rally together and they did so, denying three chances in quick succession with the last being headed off the line.

The home side went into the break 1-0 up but their lead was short-lived as Ilford scored from the penalty spot two minutes into the second half.

Daryl Cooper regained the lead for the hosts when he slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the back of the net.

And it was not long before they doubled their advantage with Joe Flowers, who was unmarked in the penalty area, heading the ball home.

It was not all good news for the home side after they were reduced to ten men when Troy Ricketts received a second yellow.
