Enfield Town dusted off their woes from Saturday as they defeated Kingstonian 2-0 in the Ryman Premier Division on Monday night.

Nigel Neita was back to his usual self as he scored the opener before the second came after some brilliant football from Samir Bihmoutine.

He took the ball away from the Kingstonian full-back and crossed behind Neita and found Dernell Wynter who scored the rebound after a save from Rob Tolfrey.

It was a much better result for the Towners after their surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wingate and Finchley.

Steve Wales scored the only goal of the game in the second half which gave Town their first home league defeat of the year.

Manager Brad Quinton said: “I was very disappointed with the performance. If I could have made nine substitutions I would have.

“I kept them in the changing room after the game and gave them some home truths.

“For a local derby it was a boring game for a neutral. It was two teams playing a dull game but it is one of those things that sometimes happens in football.

“I gave them the chance to speak after I had them tell me if they thought I was in the wrong and I could not hear a mouse.

“We have had a couple of injuries which have not been helpful but we have a good, talented squad.

“Saturday’s game was a one off but there are players knocking on my door wanting to play and some of them deserve to play so they will all need to prove they can keep their spot in the starting XI.”

Town now face an away trip to Canvey Island on Saturday.

“We will be prepared for the match. We will have a yoga and insanity class on Thursday but the boys will be ready for the match,” added Quinton.

“And we will also watch Saturday’s game so the players can see what I saw. They will look at their mistakes and they will learn from it.

“I will not let Saturday’s performance happen again. I am not going to let a team that I manage play like that ever again.”

A minute’s silence was held at the start of the Wingate game for former Enfield FC legend Tommy Lawrence.

In the fifth minute a free-kick from Wales was well off-target for the visitors and later former Town man Claudiu Vilcu was denied on the edge of the home box from a similar position.

Town’s best chance of the first half came when a Scott Shulton shot was deflected and kept out by a late reaction save from Shane Gore.

After the ball was cheaply given away in the 67th minute Wingate broke quickly and the move ended with Luke Ifil cutting back from the right for Wales to curl into the bottom corner.
