ROBBIE Grabarz guaranteed his qualification for Rio 2016 after winning the men’s high jump title at the British Championships in Birmingham.

The Enfield-born athlete is aiming to add another medal to the bronze he won at London 2012 four years ago after leaping 2.26m to take the gold at the national championships.

But the 28-year-old only just edged out Chris Baker, who also cleared the 2.26m height, on countback.

Grabarz has also been named in the Great Britain team for the European Athletics Championships in the Netherlands from Wednesday, July 6 to Sunday, July 10.

The 98-strong British squad will be looking to show form and fitness ahead of the final Olympic selections next month.

Enfield & Haringey Athletics Club sprinter Desiree Henry ran 23.13 in the women’s 200m final, coming second to Dina Asher-Smith at the British Championships to secure her place on the plane to Rio.

The 20-year-old also ran in the women’s 100m final on Saturday, finishing third as she came home in 11.26 behind Asha Philip and Daryll Neita and she will be hoping she can receive a discretionary qualification in the shorter sprint event as well.

Henry, along with Philip, has also been selected in the European Championship team for the European Athletics Championships in the 100m and 4x100m relay.
