The competition for the Enfield Ignatians Under-14s player awards has predictably proved fierce following an excellent season which has seen the side promoted to the Herts-Middlesex Division Three and win the Plate Final of the Harrow Tens Tournament.

The first of the category winners was Ben Phillips after a memorable campaign.

He won the Players’ Player of the Year Award, which was the recognition of his try-scoring exploits, and particularly his ability to unlock defences in the blink of an eye.

The excellent all-round progress of Feidlhim Ginty (Coaches Player of the Year), Chris Dunbar (most improved) and Ryan Loo (most technically-gifted) were also recognised by the club.

Coach Colin Pennicott said: “It’s been a very good season for the team and our skills both individually and collectively have improved immensely.

“We will be aiming to build on these very promising foundations by making a strong start to next season.”

Ignatians are showing live rugby at the club this weekend. The Premiership final between Saracens and Exeter will be on this Saturday while England’s game against Wales will also be shown the following day.

Draught pints will also be on offer for £1 across both games as the club look to attract fans down.
