Jan Vertonghen has handed Tottenham Hotspur a boost ahead of the Premier League title run-in by resuming running and ball work.

The Belgian centre-back hasn’t played for Spurs since the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on January 23 after suffering a knee injury.

According to the Daily Mail the 28-year-old could be fit enough for action after the international break with the trip to Liverpool on April 2 a possibility for his return.

Meanwhile, forward Clinton Njie is also making good progress following a knee injury and closing in on his first-team return.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian hasn’t played since the 4-1 Europa League win over Monaco on December 10.

He has made just seven Premier League appearances this term – all from the substitutes’ bench – with the majority of his involvement coming in the cup competitions.
