Enfield Town boss Brad Quinton insists his side will put everything into their game against Hitchin Town on Saturday as they bid for a prolonged run in the FA Cup.

The Towners have home advantage in their third qualifying round tie this weekend and Quinton is confident his team can maintain their recent winning run.

The Enfield manager said: “We would love to have a run in the FA Cup. It’s a game we will be putting everything into and we desperately want to go a lot further.

“I believe the team will not let the fans down and I’m sure we will do very well on Saturday.”

Hitchin Town are currently eighth in the Southern Premier Division and Quinton believes their opponents will not relish facing his side.

He said: “We had them watched yesterday and they drew 2-2. They’re a passing side and they like to get the ball forward quickly. But they do leave a few areas exposed at the back which we hope to exploit.

“I think they are going to be worried about facing us and I’m confident we can get the result we want.”

This Saturday’s home FA Cup tie falls on Non-League Day when there are no Premier League or Championship matches scheduled because of the international break.

The Towners boss hopes they can have a bumper crowd and expects his team to deliver an entertaining performance. Quinton said: “It’s a fantastic club on the non league circuit and we just want everyone to get behind the side.

“The supporters will always be entertained and see a wholehearted performance.

“We play with a high tempo and I’m sure all the fans will enjoy it and come again.”

Enfield are in a purple patch of form after winning their last six games heading into tonight’s League Cup tie with Cheshunt.

Their latest victory was a comprehensive 4-0 home win over Leatherhead which has taken them up to 14th in the Ryman Premier Division after a slow start to the season.

Four successive league victories have lifted them up the table and their manager is content with their position after the opening 13 games.

Quinton said: “We’re seven points off third place and we’re happy with where we are. We don’t particularly want to be at the top at this stage and would rather be just outside the play-offs. We’re just going about our business one game at a time.”

The Towners got off to a fast start and were rewarded with the opening goal after 24 minutes. Dernell Wynter’s strike was parried and Tyler Campbell followed up to net the rebound.

Enfield continued to dominate the game in the second half and they made it 2-0 after 55 minutes. Ryan Doyle received the ball and fired a powerful shot into the net.

The hosts put the game beyond their opponents with their third goal when Wynter scored.

Enfield finished the scoring in the 79th minute when Harry Ottaway was released by Campbell and he neatly slotted home late on.

After their biggest win of the season, Quinton said: “The boys were fantastic and it could have been eight or nine goals on the day. It was a great performance.

“We are looking really dangerous and now have our full squad back again which makes such a difference.

“We were able to bring on Corey Whitely after being out for four or five weeks with a medial ligament injury and he almost scored at the end.”

The Town boss added: “It just shows we are carrying on from where we left off last season. We’re seeing how good these boys are and the players are also improving.

“I always thought we’d be fine once we got our squad back fit and having the spine of the team available makes such a difference for us.”
