Enfield Town claimed back-to-back home wins despite finishing both games with ten men this week to climb up the Ryman Premier Division table.

It has been a slow start to the campaign for Bradley Quinton’s squad but the Towners enjoyed a rewarding week in the league after thrashing Farnborough 4-1 on Saturday before a 2-0 win over Wingate & Finchley last night.

Enfield suffered a setback just before the half hour mark against Wingate when Mickey Parcell was sent off for two bookings in a short space of time.

The visitors tried to take advantage of the extra man but found goalkeeper Nathan McDonald in impressive form as he saved Billy Healy’s strike.

Despite being up against it numerically, the Towners punished Wingate as they opened the scoring through a powerful header by Claudiu Vilcu.

It was the hosts that looked the more threatening side and almost doubled their lead through Bobby Devyne but the striker’s shot was deflected over.

Enfield made it 2-0 in the 70th minute when Tayshan Hayden-Smith released Devyne and he dinked the ball over the goalkeeper.

It was a similar story on Saturday as Enfield overcame the blow of being down to ten men to comfortably defeat Farnborough.

The hosts got off to a perfect start as Vilcu headed home the opener after just three minutes.

But Farnborough equalised in the 17th minute thanks to a decent finish from Harry Williams.

The Towners regained their lead when Devyne punished the defence by firing home their second of the game.

Enfield lost Devyne early on in the second half when the striker was dismissed for a clash with Ryan Scott.

But Harry Ottaway made it 3-1 before debutant Evans Kouassi came on and scored the fourth late on.

Town host Ipswich Wanderers on Saturday in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
