Frank Buglioni insists it is merely delaying the inevitable after his world title bout against Fedor Chudinov was called off just over a week before the scheduled fight.

The Enfield boxer's hopes of winning the WBA Super Middleweight title at Wembley Arena were scuppered after unbeaten Chudinov pulled out yesterday with a broken nose.

Buglioni, who will still fight on Friday, July 24, is sceptical about the Russian's injury and insists the postponement is only going to temporarily deny him realising his dream of becoming a world champion.

'Wise Guy' Buglioni, who expects to take on the Russian in September or October, said: "How does a world champion break his nose with all the head guards and protection you have? It just seems maybe he wasn't fit enough and maybe he was a little bit worried about coming to London. Perhaps the occasion started to get to him.

"It's a world title fight so he doesn't want to go in there with any injuries or at less than 100 per cent. I want to beat the best Chudinov.

"I haven't missed a fight in my career even though I've fought with broken hands and ribs.

"But it's only delaying the inevitable because when he gets fit I'm going to take that belt off him."

Buglioni was relishing the opportunity as an underdog to challenge for the world title when we initially spoke on Monday. But within hours his hopes had been dashed. The 26-year-old admits the uncertainty and prolonged waits between fights is the most challenging aspect of the sport.

He said: "The easy part in boxing is getting in the ring and fighting but the hard part is all the waiting around and making sure the fights come off.

"It was very disappointing. I have trained so hard for this fight but it's one of those things in life. You just have to roll with the punches. I will take this training camp as a learning curve and still fight next week.

"Whoever they put in front of me I will be looking to do a job. I'm not going to put the camp to waste."

Buglioni has spent the last month in Dublin intensively preparing for the Chudinov fight and believes he is in the best condition of his life.

"It has gone absolutely fantastically and my training has stepped up a level," he said. "I'm in the best shape of my life. My fitness, strength and mindset is absolutely spot so it's been my greatest camp."

The boxer was originally scheduled to face Lee Markham in a rematch next week before the Chudinov opportunity arose.

Buglioni, who has lost just once as a professional, drew with Markham at Wembley Arena in May.
