Frank Buglioni has been handed an unexpected world title shot next month when he will take on unbeaten Fedor Chudinov for the WBA Super Middleweight championship.

The Enfield boxer will face Russian Chudinov at Wembley Arena on Friday, July 24 for the belt which was recently vacated by Carl Froch.

Buglioni said: "It was a little bit unexpected but the opportunity arose and I'm in boxing to win world titles so there was no way I wasn't going to take it. I jumped at the [chance to have] fight. I didn't really have to make my mind up and took it straight away.

"He's the world champion and deserves all the respect I'm going to give him. I like someone that's in front of me that I've got to chase and it's just going to make me train harder than I've trained before. I'm looking to go in there and upset the odds."

His opponent will go in as favourite having beaten Felix Sturm in Germany last month and the WBA champion has won all of his 13 bouts with ten knockouts. 'Wise Guy' Buglioni was held to a draw in his last fight against Lee Markham in May and was expected to have a rematch with him before landing his title shot. The 26-year-old, who has one loss from his 18 professional fights, insists he is relishing the chance to pull off an upset and believes this status will suit him.

Buglioni said: "I know what I can do and how I can perform. Being the underdog is the best way I perform as well and this will be really the first time I'm a true underdog.

"Every camp just keeps gets better and better and the improvements are really coming. But no-one has seen the best of me yet. We've seen in it the gym and it's coming so I'm looking forward to being the underdog and putting on a show."
