A young Enfield side were beaten 21-11 by a vastly-experienced Penguin side in the Middlesex Water Polo League on Wednesday.
However, it was Enfield who struck first as Richard Waller let fly from five metres. Penguin replied with three quick-fire efforts before Costas Chamalidis halved the deficit.
In the second quarter Charlie Briers, Sean O’Brien and Claudio Palumbo all struck for Enfield who trailed 9-5 at half-time as Penguin flexed their muscles.
And a similar pattern resumed in the third as Enfield stayed just within touching distance thanks to scores from Nikos Chamalidis and Waller. Six further goals from Penguin kept them in control, though.
Despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Andy Boorman, Penguin ran in a further six goals in the final quarter.
But a resilient Enfield hit back via Costas Chamalidis, Rob Lucas and debutant Paul Henzaky (2) to prevent Penguin running away with the contest.
