Winchmore Hill & Enfield Hockey Club have teamed up with England Hockey to launch their annual ‘Back to Hockey’ campaign, encouraging would-be players to get back into the sport.

The sessions are aimed at men and women who have not played hockey for a while or are keen to take up the sport in a fun and friendly environment.

Beverley Blackburn, England Hockey’s participation manager and hockey coach, said: “It’s an exciting time to come back to hockey as so many women have been inspired by the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign and want to give the sport a try.

“We welcome all abilities and are keen to show that hockey has come a long way from the days of muddy pitches and waiting around for a touch of the ball.

“The Back to Hockey sessions are also aimed at those who played during their school days but may have moved away from the game because it became too time consuming, competitive and physically demanding.

“Now back for another successful year, the flexible format allows women to get involved in the sport on a local basis and can fit easily around busy schedules.”

Sessions run from 2pm to 4pm every Saturday, starting on May 16, and will last for eight weeks until July 4, taking place at Aylward Academy, Windmill Road, N18 1NB.
