Newly-promoted Enfield Water Polo Club began their London League Division 2 season in style by beating Avondale 23-11 at Southgate.
The step up in opponent proved no issue for Enfield, who won all four quarters comfortably to begin the new campaign on a good footing.
Putney-based Avondale struck the first blow but the goal only stirred Enfield into life; Rob Lucas (2), Andy Rolle (2), Richard Waller and Charlie Briers all hitting back.
The second quarter was closer but Tom Mendham (2), Briers (2), Alex and Richard Waller and Lucas all registered for a 7-4 scoreline in Enfield's favour.
Enfield appeared to take their foot off the gas in the third quarter but still prevailed 4-2 thanks to efforts from Rob Threadgold, Lucas, R.Waller and Briers.
Leading 17-7 at the start of the final period, Enfield ran in a further six goals to cruise to a comprehensive margin of victory. Briers (2), R.Waller (2), Rolle and Waller rounded off the scoring.
