Enfield Town boss Bradley Quinton believes his side can go all the way if they reach the Ryman Premier play-offs and insists his team will be feared by their promotion rivals.

The Towners have enjoyed a strong campaign under Quinton this season, since he took the job in August, and are currently fifth in table.

Enfield have won five of their last six games and their manager is optimistic the side can crown the season with promotion.

Quinton said: “They have done unbelievably well so far. It’s been a fantastic season for the boys after going from fighting relegation to challenging for the top five. The players deserve everything they get and I just hope we can get in the play-offs because if we do I would fancy our chances.

“We’ve beaten Hendon twice, defeated Margate home and away and beaten leaders Maidstone United 3-0 so you don’t get these results through luck. There is nothing to fear and we have belief in our own ability. We don’t fear anyone and all we have to do is worry about ourselves.”

The manager added: “All the success so far is down to hard work and teams are going to fear us. On current form, you would have to say Hendon and ourselves are right up there.”

Enfield face a busy programme over the Easter weekend with a home game against tenth-placed Bognor Regis Town on Saturday followed by a trip to Dulwich Hamlet on Monday.

Quinton believes their second match will go a long way to deciding which side finishes fourth, with Town sitting just one place and three points below Hamlet in the table.

He said: “I think the play-offs will go down to the wire.

“But I think our match against Dulwich will decide who finishes in fourth spot so it’s a big game for both sides.”

The Towners boosted their hopes of promotion after a 1-0 victory at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday.

Enfield dominated the contest but came up against dogged opponents who were determined to frustrate them.

Visiting goalkeeper Seb Brown was in impressive form, keeping out efforts from Aryan Takbakhsh and Bobby Devyne.

Hampton almost struck on the break after Tom Collins intercepted a pass but his shot was saved by Nathan McDonald.

Enfield had to wait until the 71st minute for the winner in unlikely circumstances. Jordan Lockie sent in a cross which evaded everyone, including Brown, as it finished in the net.

Quinton said: “I was happy with the way we stuck at it. Hampton came and sat back to try to get something on the break.

“We bided our time and went in a bit frustrated at half time. But we just had to stay patient and keep our focus.

“I wasn’t worried because the goal was coming and their keeper was making so many saves. We just had to keep plugging away and I was always confident that we would score eventually.”
