A Harry Kane hat-trick gave Tottenham Hotspur a 4-3 win against bottom of the league Leicester City in a thrilling encounter.

A simple tap in was met with a heavily deflected second to give Spurs control. But by 53 minutes they had lost their lead first through Jamie Vardy then Wes Morgan.

Kane was not to be denied as he slotted a penalty home after Danny Rose was felled by David Nugent. An own goal by Jeffrey Schlupp ensured Spurs bounced back from their 3-0 loss at Manchester United.

A late Nugent goal gave City late hope but they could not force and equaliser.

With barely a minute gone Spurs were forced into a substitute as their star stopper Hugo Lloris collided with Kyle Walker and had to be stretchered off.

The action did not stop their as the lillywhites raced into an early lead.

An Andros Townsend corner was flicked on by Eric Dier and saved by Kasper Schmiechal but only into the path of Kane who could not miss.

Kane’s day and season continued to get better with the aid of a massive deflection, he doubled his tally for the afternoon.

Townsend was involved again as he neatly nutmegged Schlupp to find Walker down the wing who passed the ball back to Kane and his shot deflects into the left corner off of Robert Huth after 12 minutes.

It could’ve been worse for the visitors after wonderful solo run from Christian Eriksen resulted in his shot being tipped onto the post by Schmiechal and Townsend could not convert the rebound.

Chances were aplenty but Spurs’ defensive record continued to look more suspect as they let Leicester back into the game after 37 minutes.

Nugent broke free on the right wing and squared his cross for the on-rushing Vardy to drill low into the corner.

Spurs looked nervous and could have conceded again before half time if it was not for the boot of Danny Rose to deny Nugent.

Leicester would not have to wait long for their equaliser and it was the visitor’s captain Morgan who rifled his header home as he was left unmarked in the area.

The home side felt frustrated as their side looked like they would collapse but their saviour produced the goods once more to put them back in front.

Rose took a tumble as Nugent dawdled with his clearance and Mike Dean waited and waited before pointing to the sport. After 63 minutes Kane converted the penalty to seal his hat-trick.

Kane nearly made it four after being picked out by Nacir Chadli but he could only volley over as Spurs took control of the game.

The game was eventually settled in unfortunate circumstances after Paulinho slipped in Christian Eriksen and his shot hit Schmiechal but ricochet off Schlupp and creeped over the line.

In typical Spurs fashion the home side had to make the final few moments difficult for themselves and a late Nugent strike did exactly that.

It came from a long hopeful punt as Nugent shrugged off Vertongehn which left Pochettino absolutely fuming with the late goal; slamming a bottle of water to the floor but Leicester could not equalise and so ended a thrilling contest.
