Former Enfield Town boss George Borg has been found guilty of aggravated misconduct after using the word ‘Hitler’ towards Wingate & Finchley supporters in August whilst in charge of the Towners.

The 56-year-old, who is now coaching at Burnham Ramblers, was dismissed by Town following the incident which occurred on August 25 at the Harry Abrahams Stadium.

A five-month investigation by the Football Association last week came to its conclusion, with Borg found guilty of an ‘aggravated breach’ of rule E3 (2), including reference to ethnic origin, and/or race and/or belief.

As a result, the former Braintree Town and Aldershot boss has been banned for five matches, fined £275 and forced to sit an education course by the governing body.

It was alleged Borg said “Hitler’s going to get you” to Wingate supporters during the match. He always maintained he was misheard but did not deny use of the word Hitler.

Borg admits his departure from Enfield still rankles, saying: “I hope I can get an apology from Enfield Town. They acted too quickly without any evidence – that was not right.”

Enfield Town refused to comment when contacted.
