Enfield Ignatians picked up their first away league victory in three attempts with a 22-15 win at Norfolk outfit Holt on Saturday.

The Ignatians sit fifth in London Two North East after winning five of their first seven fixtures, having ended a run of two consecutive defeats away from home.

It took just two minutes for the Ignatians to break the deadlock. Number eight Wes Warren broke from a scrum 15 metres out to cross the line. Four minutes later, Jordan Wilson set up Cypriot international Frank Stavrou to double the lead.

Wilson duly added the extras before kicking a penalty to put the Ignatians comfortably ahead at the break.

Hosts Holt were reinvigorated after the re-start and quickly got on the scoresheet with a penalty.

But the home side were caught out soon after when their scrum-half was stopped by a backrow, and as the ball broke loose, Richard Laurence was on-hand to pounce and score.

Wilson then kicked his second conversion for the visitors before Holt took control of the ball.

A 65th minute try was added to by another effort three minutes from time, but the Ignatians defence held firm to ensure their second league win away from home this season.

The Fourths overcame high-flying Weston 14-10 in Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Five following two converted tries from George Osei in the final quarter.
