Enfield Ignatians were unable to build on a win in their opening pre-season fixture, going down 28-12 at home to Hertford Seconds on Saturday.

The Blue and Golds scored their first try following a driving maul, with Jordan Wilson crossing the line to give Enfield a 5-0 half-time lead.

Hertford took control of the match after the break in fortuitous circumstances, profiting from a grubber kick which skipped off the turf and behind the defence to afford the visitors a score.

The away side then ran home a quick tap penalty after the Ignatians were penalised for breaking out of their own 22.

Jordan Wilson scored his second try after the break, collecting a pass from Adam Smith before going over.

That was as close as the Ignations got though, with their visitors building their advantage whilst keeping Enfield at arms’ length until the close.

An Enfield Ignatians Veterans side will take on the current Fourths this Saturday as part of their pre-season preparations.
