Enfield and Haringey's Desiree Henry was part of the Team GB 4x100m relay team which broke a 34-year-old national record in winning gold at the European Championships in Zurich.

The 18-year-old, along with Asha Philip, Ashleigh Nelson and Jodie Williams, finished in a time of 42.24 to not only take gold at the European Championships but break the British national 4x100m relay record time.

France finished narrowly behind Great Britain, crossing the line in 42.45, whilst Russia scooped bronze with a time of 43.22.

Henry and Britain had qualified for this afternoon's final - the last event at the 2014 European Championships - by running a season's best time of 42.62 in Saturday night's semi-final.

Team GB then managed to shave almost four tenths of a second off their time in the final to take gold ahead of France and Ukraine.

Victory for the 4x100m relay team and a flurry of golds on the final day of the championships leaves Brtiain top of the medal standings with a best-ever tally of 23 medals in all.
