Atletico Madrid are keen to sign Spurs forward Roberto Soldado on loan but Tottenham would prefer to sell the Spaniard, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The former Valencia forward became the club’s record signing when he joined in a £26m deal last summer but after a good start, the Spanish international tumbled down the pecking order.

Soldado scored four times in his first three appearances for Spurs but ended the season with just 11 goals as Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane were picked ahead of him.

Atleti, who have lost Diego Costa to Chelsea this summer, are understood to be keen to sign Soldado on loan for the season, whereas Spurs would prefer to sell.

The 29-year-old has a good record in La Liga, having scored 101 league goals in 248 starts for Valencia, Getafe, Osasuna and Real Madrid.
