A hat-trick from Leon Osei secured a 3-2 pre-season win for Enfield over Potters Bar Town

A hat-trick from Leon Osei helped Enfield Town secure a 3-2 pre-season victory at Potters Bar Town.

Steve Newing’s side went ahead early into the contest. A strike from Mitch Hahn bounced off the woodwork, but Osei was on hand to turn the ball home from close range.

The game was played at a good tempo as both teams looked to increase their fitness ahead of the new season.

Carl Penny came close for Potters Bar as he dribbled into the Enfield box before seeing his shot strike the post and go out of danger.

Enfield then extended their lead as Osei collected the ball on the right and sent a curling shot into the corner.

Goalkeeper Noel Imber then had to be quick off his line to force Anton Agombar to drag his shot across goal and wide.

Newing’s men went in comfortably ahead at the break and shortly after the restart they added a third.

Lee Allen had space to cross and his delivery was turned home by Osei to complete his hat-trick.

Agombar then pulled one back for the Scholars before both managers decided to make changes to their sides - including the first sight of Enfield’s Jey Siva this season and a chance to check out new signing Gary Burrell.

Trialist Alex Rossis was also introduced in goal but he was soon picking the ball out of his net after Penny got Potters Bar’s second of the contest with a shot that went in off the post.

The visitors then created two chances to extend their advantage. Liam Hope sent an effort against the post before Walid Matata saw an opportunity snuffed out after colliding with the Bar keeper late on.

Enfield take on St Albans City tonight (Tuesday) and complete their pre-season campaign with a clash against Hayes & Yeading on Saturday (August 11).
