Spurs have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian international has been linked with the north London side throughout the summer and will now join subject to a medical.
Vertonghen was named the Dutch giant’s skipper at the start of the last campaign and helped steer them to a second consecutive league title.
The defender netted ten times in 37 outings during the season and his performances were rewarded as he scooped both Ajax’s Player of the Year award and the Eredivisie Player of the Year accolade.
Subject to a medical, he will become Andre Villas-Boas’ second signing at the club following on from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s arrival last week.
